Oversubscribed financing backed by new and existing investors funds cGMP manufacturing scale-up of Avantamine™, the resistance-proof platform designed to redefine infection prevention.

AvantGuard Awarded $2.65 Million in NIH Grants to Advance Next-Generation Antimicrobial Technologies

ITHACA, N.Y., June 24, 2026 —AvantGuard, Inc., a biotechnology company developing resistance-proof antimicrobial technologies, today announced the closing of a $1.7 million seed financing round — nearly three times its original $600,000 target. The oversubscribed round drew participation from new investors alongside existing shareholders and members of the company’s Board of Directors, signaling broad and growing conviction in AvantGuard’s platform and its path to market.

Proceeds will be deployed to advance the manufacturing of both the monomer and polymer components of AvantGuard’s proprietary Avantamine™ platform to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards — a pivotal step toward commercial partnerships and product launch. The round builds on recent non-dilutive funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), further validating the platform’s scientific and commercial promise.

“The strong response to this financing round validates both the urgency of the antimicrobial resistance challenge and the commercial potential of our platform. With this funding, we can build upon our recent NIH-supported progress and take meaningful steps toward commercialization by establishing cGMP manufacturing capabilities. We believe our technology has the potential to redefine how antimicrobial protection is delivered across a wide range of applications where resistance, safety, and durability are increasingly important.” – Ted Eveleth, CEO, AvantGuard, Inc.

AvantGuard’s patented Avantamine™ technology enhances the biocompatible chemistry naturally deployed by the human immune system to combat pathogens. The platform delivers broad-spectrum, long-lasting protection against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, without contributing to antimicrobial resistance. Target markets include infection prevention, wound care, dermatology, and healthcare environments, sectors facing acute pressure to find safer, more durable antimicrobial solutions.

The financing marks a critical inflection point for AvantGuard as it moves from scientific validation to manufacturing readiness, positioning the company to pursue commercial partnerships with antimicrobial companies and other industry stakeholders.

ABOUT AVANTGUARD:

AvantGuard is a venture-backed, Cornell University spin-off and IndieBio alum developing the first line of defense against pathogens for a world where antibiotics are failing.
